Replacement planning
Repair or replace your air conditioner? Compare the actual options
Use the diagnosis, equipment condition and full replacement scope to make your decision.
Get a specific diagnosis first
An AC that stops cooling does not automatically need replacement. Ask which problem was found, what the repair would involve and what uncertainty remains. A diagnosis gives you something concrete to compare with a new installation. Ask about the diagnostic fee when arranging the visit.
Consider the system’s history
Review previous repairs, recurring comfort problems, equipment condition and any warranty coverage. Age is one consideration, not a rule that decides the outcome. Discuss whether the proposed repair addresses the current fault and whether other known issues would remain afterward.
Compare complete costs and scope
A replacement quote should explain equipment, duct connections, electrical or drainage work, removal and exclusions. Compare equipment and labor warranties separately. Prince offers free replacement estimates; that is distinct from a repair diagnosis. Ask for the options in writing and choose around your home’s needs and budget.
